Rob Shapiro is a veteran college essay tutor and applications specialist with over 12 years of experience. One of Rob’s greatest joys is to positively impact the lives of college bound students beginning their journey towards self discovery. He has built an established track record of mentoring students on how to tell their unique stories in a well-structured, and compelling manner using proprietary methods and materials. Rob’s approach to an effective college applications process is to stay creative, collaborative, and organized—while working in a stress free environment.

In addition to founding Always a Writer, Rob has been a volunteer at Latino University College Access (LUCA) for three years as a college essay and application mentor, working with high school seniors of Latino descent looking to become the first in their families to attend college.

Furthermore, Rob has always found the time to help friends and family (including his three children…) with their college essays and applications, with the objective to make the student’s college aspirations come true, which he has consistently accomplished—from the Ivy Leagues, to Big10 schools, and from small liberal arts colleges to some of the country’s top STEM universities.

Overall, Rob is a dedicated and creative professional with a 25 year history of producing top-grade written content with an additional specialty as an accomplished speech writer. Rob is also a published author with a proven ability to write goal-driven and impactful content across a spectrum of genres.

For example, after Rob’s employer unexpectedly closed his securities brokerage business, he created a daily blog on LinkedIn called “#STAYTUNED” to promote his competencies, add color to his resume and make some noise in the job market.

“#STAYTUNED”’s formula was simple: share something interesting, in a brief and creative way. Subject matter was wide-ranging and topical: crypto, opioids, ageism, AI and everything in between. 600+ “#STAYTUNED” essays were published over 2.5 years.

The ebook, “#STAYTUNED: Essential Essays”, is a collection of Rob’s favorite posts. The essays are as they were originally posted on LinkedIn except for minor edits and new imagery. 

Always a Writer is not just the name of Rob’s business—it’s a reflection of who he truly is. And more than anything else, he’d like to share his passion and gift with students with big dreams about where they want to study. Because—as we all know, Everyone Has a Story to Tell…
